Update

June 2, 2010

I’ve been out of touch for a while. I have been really busy though!

My chair redo is almost done, thank goodness! It turned out to be a pretty large undertaking but I am starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

My garden is coming along very nicely. I have a ton of tomatoes. Now I’m just waiting for them to ripen and turn red. I have a few peppers. The onions and garlic are still surviving. My herbs are still doing really well. The cantaloupes are awesome! I have been eating tons of lettuce too! My lettuce actually started to “bolt” (apparently that’s a technical term) so I had to harvest all of it. When your lettuce starts to bolt the lettuce turns bitter, so they say. Luckily I got to it in time and there is no bitter lettuce here!

Hopefully I’ll have more of an update soon.

Spring Has Sprung

March 31, 2010

Hosta

Spring is finally making its appearance here in the valley.  The days have been mostly sunny and warm.  I’ve been trying to get outside and enjoy this lovely weather.  Soon it will be unbearably hot and these gorgeous early days of spring will be gone.  While I was strolling around my backyard yesterday, thinking about all the things I want to get done this spring, I noticed something poking out of the ground.  Three of the five Hostas I planted last year are coming back!  I was so excited that I immediately called my green thumb wielding mother.  It’s always nice when she shares in my enthusiasm for the simple things in life.

Here comes my resident garden stomping, hole digging, mole hunter.  Hopefully the little guys will survive her massive clodhoppers.

Happy Thanksgiving!

November 25, 2009

Thanksgiving is my number two favorite holiday. (Christmas is number one.)

In the true spirit of Thanksgiving I got to thinking about some of the things that I am thankful for:

-My husband. He is so wonderful. He always puts up with me and my neurotic ways and, most importantly, continues to love me through it all.

-My family. There is always a good time to be had when we all get together. They’re so kind and loving and always accepting of everyone.

-My job. I’m not always happy to be at work (who is?), but I love the people I work with and actually enjoy what I do.

    On a less serious note:

-This glorious fall weather. I love the color of the leaves and the cooler temperatures. I mostly love wearing sweaters and jeans with boots.

    -Shoes. I love them all!

    -Makeup. It makes me pretty.

Those are just a few things that I love and am thankful for. I hope everyone has a safe and happy holiday.

      Happy Thanksgiving!

      It’s Been a Long Time…

      August 5, 2009

Shouldn’t have left you, without a dope beat to step to!

I have been in somewhat of a posting lull lately.  I haven’t felt as though I’ve had much to say.  Add that to life’s stresses, and whatnot, and you get nadda.

      Sorry.

I’m in the process of re-doing our master bedroom.  I know that we’ve only had it for four months and only fully decorated for one, but I just didn’t like it.  So there!  Ha!  I can say that hubster wasn’t too terribly excited, but I twisted his arm.  He is quite a miser and takes some encouraging when I want to spend gobs of money.  It’s not done yet, but I’m getting close.

Anyway, I have quite a few things coming up and will hopefully have new things to report soon.

      Until then…

      peace out cub scouts!

      Recycling?

      July 7, 2009

Okay, so I am all for “reuse, reduce, recycle.”  I recycle what I can, sometimes I even stick extra stuff in there to see if they’ll take it.  I compost all my kitchen scraps.  I try really hard not to be wasteful.  Not only because I believe in it, but also because I don’t like to waste things, especially when it can save me money.

But has the urge to better our planet gone too far?  As I was reading through my various blogs this morning I stumbled upon a very disturbing post.  I saw this and thought “What the crap?  Really?”  Wearing a jacket made out of Capri Sun wrappers is just not right.

So, being as disturbed as I was I looked into this issue some more.  Turns out there is a company that takes recycled food packaging and turns them into purses and such.  And for all you crafties out there, you can turn plastic grocery bags into yarn.  I also read about a couple from New Zealand that generated only ONE BAG OF TRASH in 2008

While I am very encouraged by the enthusiasm of others to do more, I still would not wear a Capri Sun Jacket.

      Weekend Fun!

      June 8, 2009

This past weekend I went to Nashville with my little sister and some friends of hers for a night.  We went up there to celebrate my little sister’s 21st birthday.  I keep saying little sister because I absolutely cannot believe that she is getting this old! Despite the fact that she is aging at an extremely rapid rate, we had a great time this weekend!wyndham-nashville

We stayed at The Wyndham Union Station.  It is an old train station that has been turned into a gorgeous hotel.  The rooms we decorated in a cute pale blue, cream, and chocolate brown theme.  (PS I love this color combo!)

Check out the cushy robe on the corner of the bed!  Deliciously comfy I tell you!

We had a lovely dinner at this quirky little restaurant called Mambu.  The decor was so cute and fun.  The atmosphere was quiet, but not stuffy.  We all just had a great time talking and giggling.  The food was fantastic too.

The one drawback of the weekend was that we were only there for one night.  I could have stayed thre for at least a week, probably longer.  Don’t think the hubby would have appreciated it.  I’ll just have to bring him along next time.  Oh well, back to reality.

      Spring Time Bliss

      May 12, 2009

      Yay for Mother Nature!

I totally fell in love with spring today.  I know I’m a little behind, but oh well.  It’s been raining so much lately, that I forgot how refreshing it is to be outside.  When I got home the dog had apparently noticed the sunshine as well and she got really excited.  So excited that she started biting at my toes while I was putting on my shoes.

Anyway, there is this road that leads up the mountain behind our neighborhood and I like to go and walk up there.  The entire road is lined with lush green grass and delicious smelling honeysuckle.  And then when you get to the top you can see just over the tree line down into the valley.  It’s beautiful, and was definitely the best part of my day today.

      Deal of my life!

      February 3, 2009

So this weekend Jason and I went out to dinner with my sister and Nicole. Well, he was very outnumbered. Naturally, when he began to discuss the surround sound system that he wants we all told him that it was ridiculous. However, I saw this situation as a fabulous opportunity. Why? Because I decided to make the deal of a lifetime! We agreed that he could get whatever sound system he wanted, as long as I could buy shoes that equal the amount he spends on it. BAHAHAHA!

I immediately went home and started to troll the internet for the perfect pair. I’m thinking something along the lines of these. I know that they’re quite ridiculous, but I don’t care. If for some reason this deal falls through, never fear! I found this!

      Obsession

      January 27, 2009

I am totally obsessed with reality TV. Now, I do discriminate against certain shows. However, in general, I love them!

Last night I watched “The City” and was completely appalled at the way these girls acted. It’s totally highschool how they interact with eachother. They’re in their 20s and should be acting like grown adults.

I was completely thrilled when I found this post about the show and how it failed all women. I laughed out loud.

      23. I know that I’m turning into my mother. And I think it’s fantastic.
